Project Overview

This project involves the Loop-In Loop-Out (LILO) of both 220kV Ranavav–Motipaneli and Ranavav–Jetpur transmission lines at the proposed 220kV Kutiyana Substation. The project aims to strengthen GETCO’s transmission network and enhance the reliability of power supply in the Saurashtra region.

Scope of Work

  • Supply, erection, testing, and commissioning of LILO arrangement for both circuits of existing 220kV Ranavav–Motipaneli and Ranavav–Jetpur lines.

  • Installation of AL-59 (61/3.50) conductors on M/C towers.

  • Laying and termination of 48F OPGW cable for communication and monitoring.

  • Civil and structural works for tower foundations and line supports.

  • Quality assurance testing and final commissioning of both circuits.

  • Execution on turnkey basis (Supply & Erection Portions).

Challenges

  • Managing project execution in a restricted working corridor due to existing transmission infrastructure.

  • Ensuring synchronization between two live 220kV circuits during shutdown and cutover activities.

  • Addressing logistical challenges in material transportation and tower erection.

  • Mitigating delays due to adverse weather during the monsoon season.

Solution

  • Adopted precision shutdown planning with GETCO for safe LILO integration.

  • Deployed GPS-based survey and alignment monitoring to ensure accuracy.

  • Strengthened on-site supervision with dedicated project teams for erection and stringing activities.

  • Implemented advanced quality inspection and documentation procedures to ensure compliance with GETCO standards.

Success Story

Despite environmental and logistical constraints, the project has achieved over 60% completion within schedule, including successful completion of foundation works, tower erection, and partial stringing. The project continues to progress efficiently toward full commissioning, contributing to a stronger and more reliable transmission grid in the region.

Key Highlights

  • Strengthens 220kV transmission connectivity in the Saurashtra region.

  • Integration of two major 220kV lines into the Kutiyana Substation.
